Jacqueline New
is an author, artist, and digital creator who has always been
passionate about storytelling and creativity. Growing up in a small town
in England, surrounded by moorland, woodland, and riverbanks, she was
captivated by the magic of nature and the wonder of books from an early
age. She would spend her days drawing and reading, losing herself in the
pages of beloved tales by Hans Christian Andersen, Enid Blyton, Lewis
Carroll, J.M. Barrie, Kenneth Grahame, Alison Uttley, G. Bramwell Evens,
and Ernest Thompson Seton, and inspired by the works of illustrators
such as Margaret Tempest, Beatrix Potter, E.H. Shepard, Angus Clifford Racey Helps, (her Gran used to send his illustrated postcards to her regularly) and Arthur
Rackham.
It was here, amidst woodlands and riverbanks, that the first seeds of a fictitious magical world took root.
Drawing from her love of local
flora and fauna, the countryside, and the timeless charm of fairy tales,
Jacqueline has crafted the world of Thistlewood, a place where woodland folk live quietly (and sometimes not so
quietly) among us. Their adventures are filled with the kind of magic
that invites both children and adults to believe in a world just out of
sight. Thistlewood reflects the gentle enchantment of The Animals of Farthing Wood, Brambly Hedge, Foxwood Tales, The Wind in the Willows, Winnie the Pooh, Peter Rabbit, and Paddington.
Jacqueline has been an established author of books for adults for over a decade, but the stories of Thistlewood
have been her passion for more than twenty-five years. Once shared only
with friends and family, these tales have now come to life with vibrant
illustrations and a spirit of adventure that adult readers will
treasure, and perhaps enjoy sharing with a younger reader in their life.
Through The Thistlewood Post,
she hopes to rekindle the joy of reading for pleasure and inspire
others to rediscover the beauty and quiet magic of the natural world, all brought to life through imagination, folklore, and storytelling.
